Dec 12, 2016: When the whole world is shifting to LED streetlights, China’s capital Beijing has installed 28 streetlights with advanced graphene material technology, which can reduce energy consumption by 20-30% compared to traditional lamps.
The graphene streetlight technology has very strong electric and heat-conducting properties, and reaches a lumen output of 140 lumens per watt.
Graphene composite materials make the exterior of the street lamps, and heat conducting adhesives and chips make the inside. Graphene is melted into adhesives to make a new composite material to utilize the heat conducting properties of graphene better. It is, however, quite difficult to integrate the heat-conducting adhesives with graphene.
Since graphene is a good heat conductor, it can reduce energy consumption more than the traditional lamps, and it also shrinks the size of the heating panels, leaving more space for other components.
