July 6, 2015: To facilitate the implementation of Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) in Andhra Pradesh, bids for the second phase will start before July 15, 2015.
The phase one of DELP covered four pilot districts in Andhra Pradesh, wherein 56.5 lakh LED bulbs were distributed. The second phase will broaden the scope of the project, according to sources.
Over the years, the cost of LED bulbs have dropped drastically, coming down from Rs 320 per bulb to about Rs 80 per bulb now.
According to Ajay Jain, Secretary, Energy, AP Government, several global institutions like KFW have agreed to provide Rs 15,000 million to Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL), a Central Government enterprise, for taking up energy efficiency measures in the country. AP is likely to be a major beneficiary of this loan as it is about to start its second phase.
EESL will invest about Rs 50,000 million over the next five years in energy conservation and energy efficiency drive in the country.
