September 19, 2014: Chinese lighting products brand Opple Lighting will soon enter India with its full range of LED bulbs and luminaires, priced lower than top brands in the market. While there are several Chinese lighting companies in the Indian market, but none of them are big brands.
We will be an early beginner in the Indian LED lighting market which is at a place of considerable increase with costs falling, said Opple Lighting India chairman S Venkataramani. The company will invest Rs 55-60 crore in the next three years for brand building, distribution and an R&D unit to work on products for Indian conditions and demand.
The Indian operation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shanghai-based Opple Lighting International Holding, which is entering markets in Europe, Latin America, Southeast Asia and Middle East.
Opple will develop luminaires and LED bulbs for home, office, retail, street and industrial use. Additionally, it will set up 30-35 brand stores under the franchisee model and another 300 shop-in-shops, Venkataramani said.
