Dec 11, 2017: LED packaging service provider Edison Opto expects the shipments of its LED automotive taillights and indoor lights to significantly increase in 2018. It has already started shipping LED automotive taillights and indoor lights on an OEM basis since October 2017.
While most of its OEM clients are US-based automakers, Edison Opto are also looking for OEMs in China and South Korea. Currently, OEM shipments take up 80-85% of Edison Opto’s total LED automotive lighting shipments and shipments for the after-market account for 15-20%.
Edison Opto’s third-quarter 2017 consolidated revenues was of NT$595.3 million (US$19.7 million), and 49% came from LED devices, 40% from LED modules, 3% from LED finished products and 9% from optoelectronic devices used in data communication.
