EESL helps Mahindra to implement LED lighting in 18 plants in India

Oct 24, 2017: Mahindra & Mahindra is collaborating with Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) for an LED replacement program to implement energy efficient LED lighting across Mahindra’s 18 manufacturing facilities in India.

This is EESL’s first collaboration with private sector company to promote energy efficient LED lighting in a work space. This unique collaboration will further encourage the private sector to adopt LED lighting.

The installation of LED lighting in Mahindra’s plants will save 20 million units of electricity per annum. The company has invested Rs 160 million in this project. EESL will provide technical assistance and project management services across all Mahindra facilities.

EESL will also do energy auditing in six Mahindra manufacturing facilities to explore further energy saving opportunities including waste heat recovery, energy efficient motors and heating, ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems.

EESL will also help Mahindra to train its employees to use the new energy efficient equipment and adopt efficient practices to conserve energy.

Mahindra became the first company in the world to commit to doubling energy productivity by 2030. It has also committed to invest $10 per ton of carbon emitted in technologies to reduce its carbon footprint.
