Dec 11, 2017: Epileds, the LED epi-wafers and chips supplier, is currently, istalling equipment at its new factory, and the relocation process is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2017. The the new factory will begin operation in early 2018.
It is also reported that Epileds has started developing micro-LED products. It is investing in the R&D of micro-LEDs and mini-LEDs. The company has also expanded its offerings of chip-scale packages (CSP) that are customized in accordance with the clients’ specifications.
After the market for LED chips picks up after the Chinese New Year in February, Epiled’s new factory will start ramping up its capacity to meet the increasing demand during in 2018. However, the additional equipment that Epiled has purchased for the new factory are mostly second-hand equipment.
The company expects to see growth in its product shipments in 2018 as it starts using its expanded capacity to manufacture new products. For example, AlInGaP LEDs are expected to go up by at least 30% from 2018, while the volume growth of the UV-A products is projected to go up by 10% or more.
