Factors that are driving demand for indoor LED screens

By BizLED Bureau

Jan 25, 2018: LED displays increase productivity and educate the customers, and several exciting new technologies have come up in 2017. Demand for indoor LED screens and signages are picking up fast. Indoor LED screens are used for presentation and display purposes indoor. High quality picture images displayed by the indoor LED screens, and their low operational costs are reasons to push growth of the market globally.

In addition, growing demand for indoor LED screens, and an increase in adoption of indoor LED screens for newer applications are the major growth opportunities for the indoor LED screen market. These new application areas include shopping malls, airports, theatres, retail stores, meeting rooms, sports venues, restaurants, healthcare, entertainment, and much more.

Indoor LED screen market

North America dominated the indoor LED screen market and Asia Pacific is estimated to have the fastest growth, due to growing demand for indoor LED screens in emerging countries like China and India. Among all the applications, the meeting room segment has the highest market share in indoor LED screen market.

Differences between outdoor and indoor LED screens

The main features of an outdoor LED screen is that the area is between a few dozen square metre to a few hundred square metre; the brightness is high; can work in the sunlight; have the function characteristic that prevent wind, rain and waterproof.

The difference between outdoor and indoor screen are:

Environmental requirements are different

Indoor LED display do not need to have waterproof and windproof, while outdoor LED screen must have the best waterproof, dustproof, and should be able to reach IP65 protection class.

Different brightness requirements

The brightness of outdoor LED is higher, generally above 4000 CD/m2. If brightness is not enough, it affects the effect of the picture display. And indoor LED brightness need not be so high; generally it is in 2000CD/m2.

The distance

The outdoor LED screen has a larger viewing distance, while the indoor transparent screen has a closer viewing distance. As a result, the requirement for pixel density is not high in the outdoor screen because the observation is far away, so the pixel density is low and the point distance is larger.

Cost of raw materials is different

The price of LED screens differ. The material costs changes the pricing of LED displays. The light bead material, the dot distance of the LED transparent screen matters when pricing is done. If smaller the point space, the more will be the cost.

According to Transparency Marketing Research (TMR), the high initial cost of fine pixel LED technology will fall in the coming years as growing competition, along with advances in R&D, work to bring costs down.

Growth of flexible/curveable LED displays, an extremely high-resolution, flexible rubber substrate LED product that can create compound curves, and quickly and securely attaches via magnets to virtually any surface, allowing for a unique no-fan, no-noise design guaranteed to attract attention.

New enhanced picture, 4K technologies will meet requirements for large-sized ultra-high-definition (UHD) displays in applications such as air traffic control, where every detail counts, as well as command centers and corporate lobbies. PixelFLEX offers ultra-high resolution as low as 1.2mm in the FLEXUltra model, and the company has announced the TrueFLEX 1.9mm pitch option, which is one of the highest resolution flexible LED products now on the market.

LED video walls and screens create impactful first impressions, and showcase professional competencies – and compared with a TV projection wall, maintain brightness much longer, with a 100,000-hour half-life. Stunning new UHD videos will enable branding messages and logos to compete for attention in the age of HD smart phones and tablets.
