GLT offers LED-based light guides for wearable applications
In the clothing side of the wearables market, GLT has product in the 0.25 mm to 0.40 mm thickness range made of polycarbonate (PC) material that can be flexible. These lightguides can be combined with single color LEDs as well as RGB (red, green, blue) LEDs to produce backlights for logos and decorative elements. Since very thin PC material can be flexed, it is perfect for applications where it must be manipulated to create items such as purses, hats and clothing.
Within the head-worn market are Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) devices. GLT has created customized lightguides with focused and directed light emissions patterns necessary for the proper illumination of displays.
