Oct 27, 2016: At a time when the Indian government’s energy efficiency scheme known as Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA), is aimed towards distributing LED bulbs across the nation, the Indian city Bengaluru is set to receive subsidized LED tubelights.
The authorities realized that majority of the people in Bengaluru have tubelights as part of their domestic lighting system. They are now promoting the energy efficiency scheme known as Hosa Belaku in rural areas and have plans to extend the scheme in the urban sector. As most of the people in Bengaluru seem disinterested in LED bulbs, the authrorities have deicied to distribute LED tubelights in the state.
Indian city Bengaluru to have subsidized LED tubelights
An LED tubelight, which is priced about Rs 750 in the market, will be supplied at Rs 250. The cost will differ in accordance to the wattage. The distribution of these highly subsidized LED tubelights will be conducted through Energy Efficiency Service Limited (EESL), a joint venture of public sector undertakings of the Union power ministry.
Further, the authorities have plans to distribute energy-efficient fans. The government has supported the use of energy efficient domestic lighting for some time now.
