Dec 12, 2016: Japanese company Idemitsu Kosan will expand the production capacity of OLED materials at its 100% subsidiary Idemitsu Electronic Materials Korea Co., Ltd at Paju, Gyeon-do, South Korea, to cater to the rising demand for OLED materials due to increased penetration of OLED displays. The expansion in production capacity is also required to install additional evaluation equipment to strengthen technological customer support capabilities, the company said.
OLED display applications have increased significantly due to increase in the use of OLED displays in smartphones, large TVs, on-vehicle displays, and other products.
Idemitsu has been supplying various OLED materials to both domestic and foreign OLED display manufacturers since 2007.
While evaluation equipment has already been installed in the Korean OLED facility, additional evaluation equipment will be installed to respond to customers’ needs, and also to be able to make proposals for newly developed materials more effectively. Construction of the new faclity will end in the first half of fiscal year 2017.
