The 10.7 km Toven Tunnel in Nordland, Norway, is also lit entirely by LED lighting. The Norwegian Public Roads Administration opted for LEDs over traditional lighting because it wanted to achieve low energy and high controllability. It also gives the tunnel proper lights to keep the drivers safe
The research revealed that creative lighting is one of the ideal ways to prevent psychological disorders like claustrophobia, disorientation and tiredness, when driving through long tunnels.
The UK officials have plans to commission research with respect to driver behavior in long tunnels to make certain everything possible is done to lessen any difficulties in the construction of UK’s longest tunnel.
