MLS hikes prices of LED packaging products by 15%

Feb 14, 2017: MLS, the largest China-based LED packaging service provider, has hiked prices of some of its LED packaging by 15%.

Citing component costs hike as the cause of this price rise, it is speculated that other China-based LED packaging service providers will also follow suit by hiking prices.

As an impact to this price increase, China-based LED lighting manufacturer Opple Lighting has increased prices by 15% for almost all types of LED lamps.

Unity Opto Technology, Taiwan-based LED packaging service provider, had hiked quotes by about 10% in December 2016, and indicated that LED packaging service providers will also hike prices by up to 5% in the second quarter of 2017 due to strong demand for fine pixel pitch LED displays.

According to industry analysts, prices for LED packaging will not get reduced in the first half of 2017.

Since 2016, costs of raw materials like circuit board, gold thread continuing have hiked sharply. In Q4 2016, PVC price was raised by 60%, plastic price raised by 30%, aluminum price by 30%, paper packaging price by 30%, shipment cost by 33.6%, and trend is expected to continue.
