Dec 6, 2016: The Niagara Falls is dazzling with rainbow colors, thanks to the new LED lighting system it has unveiled.
After worth $4 million renovation, Niagara Falls they will be even brighter from the Canadian side, as the light bulbs at Niagara Falls have been replaced with LED lights. At night, after the illumination, the 200 feet falls between the US and Canada looks majestic.
“It’s a new era in Niagara Falls history,” said Mark Thomas, chairman of the Niagara Falls Illumination Board. “We’re eliminating all the dark spots so that you can actually see the whole rim of the falls, the whole curtain of the falls, and we’re gonna add a whole host of colors that you couldn’t get before with our old technology,” he said. “When you put lights on these falls, they dazzle,” he added.
The new LED lighting system makes the falls 14 times brighter. She falls was first illuminated in 1860 to celebrate the Prince of Wales’ visit to Canada.
About 1400 new LED lights boosted the colors up to 14 times brighter. This will save energy by upto 85%. With this new lighting system, visitors on the Canadian side will get the full view of the falls.
