Nichia warns against counterfeit laser diodes sold in its name

Dec 6, 2017: LED manufacturer Nichia Corporation has warned its customers through a press release that a large number of counterfeit Nichia laser diode products have entered the market, most of which are distributed mainly in China.

The company has investigated and found that, for example, a counterfeit laser diode described as part number “NDB7B77”, which is being sold on the internet as a genuine Nichia laser diode model, despite the fact that the number is not a legitimate Nichia laser diode part number, and has not been designed nor produced by Nichia.

The company warns that its customers should be aware that such counterfeit laser diodes have not undergone any quality inspections and may not meet Nichia’s quality standards. In fact, it may have negative consequences on the end products.

Nichia declines any responsibility for any loss or damage caused due to using counterfeit Nichia products, and warns its customers against purchasing or using counterfeit Nichia laser diodes under any circumstances.
