July 29, 2016: Stepping up its efforts for energy conservation, Haryana government on July 26, 2016 made the use of LED bulbs mandatory for all government and public sector offices and institutions in the State.
Principal Secretary (Renewable Energy Department) Ankur Gupta said it is also mandatory for electricity consumers in industrial, commercial and institutional sectors having connected load of 30 Kilowatt or above.
Now, LED bulbs are mandatory in Haryana govt offices
He said with this decision, the State will be able to avoid additional generation capacity of about 380 MW as there is potential of 25 to 60 per cent energy saving if LED lighting systems are used. The industrial, commercial and institutional sectors would have to switch to LED lighting at their own cost within one year, he said.
