Jan 25, 2018: In 2018, Samsung plans to focus mainly on developing quantum dot light emitting diode (QLED) displays and ultra-large scale products.

Samsung believes that to compete in the next generation TV market, it has rise above the appearance of the TVs like curved or flat, but should concentrate on advanced technology like QLED. Moreover, curved TV is positioned in the high end market, and is only a transitional product between major technology breakthroughs. Hence, the company believes that QLED display technology is the ultimate development goal for the company to compete with its rivals.

However, Samsung expects that 65″-and-above large size TV demand will grow in 2018 and it prepares to develop large-sized products. Thus, LG will supply Samsung large-sized (65″~75″) LCD TV panels.
